Why Authorial exists

If you publish a book yourself, you're running a small business.

Writing is the part you signed up for. On top of that come typesetting, price calculation, Amazon KDP and Tolino, advertising, social media, newsletters, review copies and keeping an eye on rankings and royalties. Authorial grew out of exactly this everyday reality.

Ten tools, ten accounts

Writing software, planning tool, spreadsheets for royalties, ads console, design app, newsletter provider. Each with its own learning curve, and none of them knows about the others.

Numbers without context

The ACOS is in one interface, the royalty in another. Whether an ad pays off is something you have to work out yourself, usually too late.

Decisions taken out of your hands

Many tools promise automation without explaining what they do. Authors need tools that show why, and leave the decision with them.

Your decisions stay yours

The graphics editor works without AI. Where AI helps, for example with proofreading or text suggestions, it is optional and clearly labelled. Automations are switched off by default.

Costs are fixed in advance

Whether it's proofreading or editing your manuscript, the price is visible before you trigger anything. No automatic renewals, no hidden extra charges, plans can be cancelled monthly.

Numbers you can understand

Royalties to the cent, break-even ACOS instead of gut feeling, recommendations with a rule and a reason. Authorial shows what follows from your inputs and doesn't promise sales figures.

Your data belongs to you

Manuscripts, lists and contacts can be exported at any time. The Royalty Calculator works in the browser, the Newsletter sends via your own domain, and rankings are recorded without an Amazon login.

Authorial is developed and operated by Stefan Achter in Weßling near Munich. The suite is shaped in close dialogue with authors: feedback from the forum, Early Access and support flows directly into the modules, and every feature has to answer the question of whether it gives authors time back.

Authorial is in Early Access. Modules are being rolled out gradually and added to each plan at no extra cost. If you join early, you help shape what comes next.

Authorial is a software suite for self-published and independent authors. It brings together the modules for writing, publishing and marketing in one account: from the manuscript editor with proofreading and editing, Community, Royalty Calculator and Trademark Checker to eBook Ranking, Blogger Management, Media Planer and Newsletter.

For authors who publish their books themselves, for example via Amazon KDP or Tolino Media, and handle writing, organisation and marketing on their own. From a first manuscript to a series with several volumes.

Authorial is developed and operated by Stefan Achter in Weßling near Munich. The product is shaped in dialogue with authors from the Community; feedback from the forum, Early Access and support flows directly into the modules.

Getting started is free: the Free plan includes Manuscript, Community, Royalty Calculator and Trademark Checker, among others. The Beginner, Professional and Expert plans add further modules and larger allowances, and can be cancelled monthly. All prices are listed on the pricing page.

Only where it takes work off your hands, and always optionally: for AI proofreading and editing and for text suggestions in the Media Planer. The graphics editor deliberately works without AI, and automations are switched off by default.

Authorial runs in the European Union. Manuscripts, lists and contacts can be exported at any time. The Royalty Calculator does all its calculations in the browser, and the Newsletter sends via your own sender domain.

Authorial is being rolled out gradually. Anyone who signs up for Early Access gets access as soon as the next places become available, and receives new modules in their plan at no extra cost.
